Respectless and undercurrent bad treatment from the owner! We went there with a mixed group i.e. Dutch and expats. The food was extremely salty (twice as much salt as normal). It was also given to the server that the food was too salty and no one could eat. The dish was steak and fish pot. Non-dutch friend went to pay the bill and was laughed at by the manager/owner stating that he had tasted the food and it was a personal taste that she found the food too salty and no one else is complaining so she should not complain as well. Everyone, including the Dutch and Non-dutch, found the food beyond edible. Audacity of the manager to insult the clients and laugh at their faces without even offering so much as an apology! Bill was paid anyways so there was no discount required. Manager/owner must get off his high horse and learn to be in the service industry. Just because 'no one else complained' does not mean that the food is not trash. One batch of food could have had accidentally more salt. It is the way one deals with the situation that makes it or breaks. Terrible restaurant with a manager/owner who treats people depending on their skin color and insults the client if they give a negative feedback on a dish. See similar reviews from other people and the negative reaction from owner. Will not go ever or recommend to anyone. Update: So the owner filed a slander complaint as skin color was mentioned. He had stated that no other (grown up) person in the restaurant has any complaints, while looking at the other patrons. Then the complainer stated that you should ask the Dutch person at the table and was laughed at in derogatory manner. The person complaining was the only non Dutch person there. This is indirect way of stating that the Dutch people don't complain so why you, the foreign woman!? Clarifying the indirect undercurrent that non-Dutch have to face.

Handy place by Overveen train station. Food is average, service is not outstanding, atmosphere is OK. Ambience is of a former train station building, which, in fact, it is.

Best food I ate in the Netherlands in the past 10 months! Served nicely in a traditional manner. Also great and friendly service.

What a lovely little place with great lunches tucked away next to the old train station in Overveen, first stop from Zandvoort ( Amsterdam beach). It has a slightly tavern like feel, with friendly staff. Well worth a visit.

It is a very nice place (old traditional Dutch trainstation) and very friendly staff. Waiting on the train we had a glass of wine. Perhaps that was the mistake, it was terrible. The food looked good though. But don't order white or red there.

The food here is excellent and the location terrific. Easily reachable by train (right next to the tracks). Food is pretty good, modest verity of beer, small and cozy. The name plaques on the wall and the brown caffè give it atmosphere.
